RFP – Active Transportation and Trails Master Plan

The Township of Seguin has an extensive road network of over 290km of local roads over 700 square kilometres.

Historically, transportation has focused primarily on roadway networks and infrastructure for the automobile. Recently, residents have called for expanding both the walking and cycling networks near schools, parks and community centers.

Areas of concern include lack of sidewalks, trails, bike paths and other areas related to active transportation. Speeding vehicles is also a concern and there have been suggestions for traffic calming in various neighborhoods.

Over the recent years, staff have collected traffic data in response to complaints from residents regarding road safety. The Township’s efforts have largely been reactive. The purpose of the ATTMP is to utilize new planning standards and adopt a proactive approach. Staff expect the Proponent will review and examine traffic and cycling data.
