Civil Engineer I (Transportation Design Engineer) leads active transportation, street, and public realm designs within Vancouver. The role involves developing conceptual designs, policy, and guidelines for transportation improvements, while overseeing engineering staff and coordinating with internal and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops conceptual street and public realm designs in collaboration with engineers and design professionals
  • Develops and contributes to transportation design policy and guidelines
  • Oversees work of engineering assistants on geometric, sign, and pavement marking design
  • Coordinates design deliverables including memos, geometrics, sign/paint plans, reports, and data analysis
  • Liaises with internal and external branches on design deliverables and oversees public consultation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation
  • Minimum three years' related experience in transportation, walking, or cycling planning and design
  • Knowledge of engineering practices, design principles, and current Canadian/international active transportation guidelines
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
