This is a regular full-time clerical and typing role in the Police Stenography unit of Burnaby's Community Safety Department. The incumbent performs high-volume transcription tasks (911 calls, victim statements, interviews, dash camera recordings), word processing, data entry using software like JUSTIN, and record maintenance for Crown Counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Perform transcription tasks including 911 calls, victim statements, interviews, and dash camera recordings using methods such as Start-Stop
Word process reports, letters, memos and forms
Enter members' leave on JUSTIN computer system and perform related data entry and querying duties
Prepare and maintain records including audio recordings using Audacity for Crown Counsel and statistics; take meeting minutes and enter traffic violations in TSMIT
Develop, revise and implement work methods, forms and procedures; interpret departmental rules, regulations and procedures
Qualifications
High school graduation including or supplemented by typewriting, word processing and standard commercial subjects courses, plus considerable experience as Clerk Typist II (or equivalent combination)
Knowledge of standard clerical procedures and common office equipment
Sound knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing departmental activities
High typing speed with high accuracy and lengthy document transcription experience required
Proficiency in MS Word and Start-Stop Omniversal; working knowledge of JUSTIN, PRIME, TEAM, TSMIT and Audacity software is an asset
