The Director of Finance & Treasurer reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and provides strategic and operational oversight of the Finance Department, including financial planning, reporting, asset management, investments, risk management, procurement, and payroll. The role is responsible for statutory duties of Treasurer under the Municipal Act and developing short- and long-term financial strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational oversight of all Finance Department functions
Deliver expert financial advice and accurate, timely financial reporting to the CAO, County Council, and Senior Management Team
Develop and recommend short- and long-term financial strategies
Lead coordination and presentation of the annual budget
Fulfill statutory duties of Treasurer in accordance with the Municipal Act
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, commerce, or related field
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation required
10 years of directly related experience at senior management level in large, highly diversified public or private sector organization with significant work in budget, financial reporting, procurement, accounting, and fiscal policy
In-depth knowledge of Municipal Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Development Charges Act, Procurement By-laws, and other applicable financial and administrative legislation
Valid Class G Ontario driver's licence and access to personal vehicle for work; current satisfactory Criminal Record Check
