Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, adjust and troubleshoot chemical processes for water purification at city water treatment plants
Serve as Operator-In-Charge of water treatment chemical systems per O. Reg. 128/04
Identify, mitigate and manage process upsets and emergency situations with chemical feed and control systems
Report upsets and emergency situations to Process Supervisor per plant procedures
Assist Process Supervisor in mitigation and management of emergency process and environmental situations
Qualifications
Completion of 3-year community college diploma in Engineering Technology (preferably environmental, water treatment, chemical or biochemical technology)
Minimum 1 year environmental, water treatment, industrial or chemical process work experience in industrial, production or laboratory environment
Ontario MOE Class 1 Drinking Water Treatment Operator Certificate (Process Operator); Class 2 desirable
Ontario MOE Operator-in-Training Drinking Water Treatment Operator Certificate and Class 1 Certificate within employer-determined timeframe (Process Operator-in-Training)
Ability to comply with City of Ottawa Respiratory Protection Policy and work rotating 12-hour day/night shifts
