Ontario Municipal Human Resources Association (OMHRA) 1 Day Workshop

OMHRA’s one day workshop will focus on Bill 163, Supporting Ontario’s First Responders Act (PTSD), 2016 and its implications for municipalities across Ontario.  This new legislation will amend the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and the Ministry of Labour Act to make PTSD presumptive for first responders. 

 

This session will address:

  • Developing a PTSD Prevention Plan and Program
  • Claims management and return to work
  • Financial implications

  Presenters for this one day workshop will include:

  • Joseph Cohen-Lyons, a labour and employment lawyer from Hicks Morley, will provide the legal perspective on Bill 163.
  • Dawn Yearwood, Vice President of Operations, and Susan Brown, Vice President of Business Development from Acclaim Ability Management will be sharing best practices and practical hands-on solutions for prevention, claims management and return to work.
  • Monica A. Szabo, Executive Director, Government, Municipal, and Public Safety, and Kim Slade, Director of Research and Product Development, Public Services Health and Safety Association will provide information on the online resources toolkit to assist employers.
  • Sal Cavaricci, Director, Serious Injury Program, WSIB,will speak on the financial impact of Bill 163 on municipal employers.
